It will probably come as no surprise to anyone keeping up with current events that Garrett has delayed the Vortex again.

Apparently they are adding some new features that were not announced at the product launch back in June. It looks like there will be some sort of iron bias/iron filter and also some way to adjust the tones. No more details were given.

I am not really sure how to feel about the Vortex. On the one hand, over time, it could morph into something really good but, I have this nagging doubt that, we are talking "Garrett" here and they are not really known for their forward looking stance on anything. Look how long it took them to come out with the Apex. That was, in my opinion, a missed opportunity.

Right now, despite Garrett's protestations to the contrary, the Vortex is really starting to look like an updated Apex. That in of itself is not such a bad thing but given the strength of the current competition the price is too high and the features too few. But, time will tell. I will still buy one, mainly because I don't like to rely on others to review a machine. I need to get it in my hands.

Well over a month has passed since I last wrote about the Garrett Vortex and, nothing has changed. Still no sign of the machines being shipped. Garrett is still putting out nonsensical posts of the "Garrett Team" swanning about talking up the Vortex without actually showing anyone why it is worth people's hard earned cash.

The more this goes on the more it reminds me of the situation with C.Scope and their EVO 6000 debacle back in 2021. You can read the full story here:

I am sure Garrett will eventually get the Vortex to the market but they are certainly making it seem like a long hard slog.
