Selling A Metal Detector? Beware Of How eBay Can Scam You!
If you want to sell your metal detector or anything else for that matter the number one choice for many will be eBay. It is a great place to pick up a bargain or sell any unwanted items. However, there is something everyone selling on eBay needs to be aware of. As a seller, you are NOT protected!
eBay is completely biased in favor of buyers. Which of course is great if you happen to be making a purchase but can turn to a costly disaster if you are a seller.
As a buyer, you can purchase something, decide you don’t like it even after using it for up to 30 days and then return it for a full refund. You can even damage the item and still receive all your money back.
The seller can dispute the refund but they have absolutely no control over it and as long as the item is returned, regardless of what state it is returned in, eBay will issue a full refund.
Below is a video from Nic & Andrea Hills which clearly illustrates eBay’s policy and attitude towards sellers. In this case, they were selling a car headlamp unit but the same applies if you are selling a metal detector or anything else.
So be warned. It doesn’t matter if you are a premium seller with 100% good feedback or someone new to the platform if someone wants to return an item and you dispute it eBay can and will scam you out of your money and you have no control over the process whatsoever.
