R.I.P Des Dunne. A Metal Detecting Legend!
It is always very sad when someone passes away but for some reason when that someone is from the detecting community it hits just that little bit harder.
Many will have known Des Dunne or will certainly have heard of him. A permanent fixture of the Irish metal detecting scene, he represented everything that is best about this hobby. His mild manner and sense of humour have touched so many over the years and it feels as though the world is just that little less bright without him in it.
Des passed away peacefully on June 12th 2020 after a short illness surrounded by his family.
There is an online condolence book for Des which people can sign. It is easy to see from all the entries so far just what he meant to people and how much he will be missed. You can sign the book here https://rip.ie/cb.php?dn=425931
And here is a reminder of Des doing what he loved doing best, metal detecting. Bless you, wherever you are Des.
