PANCKY PK0075 Unboxing and First Impressions
The metal detector market is full of cheap Chinese made machines at the moment. It seems almost every day that a new model appears on Amazon. But whereas just a few years ago, many of these machines would not have been worth considering due to their poor performance, things have moved on a little. Now it is possible to buy one of these machines and not only will it cost relatively little but the performance will, generally speaking, be acceptable and sometimes even good.
Into this market comes Pancky. Not a name most will be familiar with. On the plus side at least they have put their branding on almost every aspect of the PK0075 which does lend some credence to the claims by the company that they are in this for the long haul.
We sent the Pancky PK0075 to our friend Chris over at HADESDETECTING to check out. Chris is pretty much an expert on all things “Chinese Metal Detector” related as well as being a highly experienced detectorist familiar with all the big name brands and detecting gear in general. But first, lets take a look at what this machine offers.

Conclusions
This is a pretty good package for the money. Especially considering that everything is included to get you up and running straight out of the box. And although the list price of around £120 is probably on the high side we have seen this machine on discount for as low as £88.00/$114.00 which makes it much better value for money.
The main drawback with most of these cheaper Chinese machines is in the recovery speed. This is the time it takes for the machine to detect a target, process it, drop it and then detect the next target. For example if you have three coins spaced out a few inches apart you may detect the first one but because of a low recovery speed, the machine is still processing that first target when you sweep the coil over the second and third coins. The machine is then not able to alert you to these targets because it is still holding onto the first one. More expensive machines employ faster processing and hence faster recovery and response times, enabling them to register all three targets no matter how fast you sweep over them.
That being said, for an entry-level machine that acts as an introduction to the hobby. Chris has also tested the Pancky PK0075 on the beach including on the wet salt sand and reports that it performed above expectations. A video is to follow shortly. You could certainly do a lot worse than choose the Pancky PK-0075 as your first machine.
