NOKTA FINDX and FINDX Pro - The Perfect Entry Point For Those New To Metal Detecting.

There is one thing you can unequivocally say about Nokta: they never rest on their laurels. Always looking to push the boundaries and bring high-performance, value-for-money metal detectors to the market, they continue to develop new ways to incorporate high tech into budget-priced machines. Last year, they gave us five new low-priced machines! The revamped Simplex line: Simplex Lite, Simplex BT, and Simplex Ultra, along with two sub $500 simultaneous multi-frequency machines in the form of the SCORE and DOUBLE SCORE. Only four months into 2024, Nokta has done it again with the FINDX and FINDX Pro.

These two new machines are squarely aimed at those new to detecting. There are no complex settings to confuse the new user. Essentially, these are turn-on-and-go machines designed to make detecting accessible to everyone.

Coils & Compatibility

We have been informed by Nokta that no alternative coil sizes will be made available for the FINDX. It is a beginner machine that according to Nokta they have released to combat the proliferation of cheap, poor-performing Chinese machines that have flooded the market in recent years.

Whilst there are no alternative coils for the FINDX, Nokta has confirmed that coils made for the updated Simplex range, not the original Simplex+, will work with the FINDX Pro, although performance will not be on par with the Simplex.

Conclusions

As you would expect, there are a few differences between the FINDX and the FINDX Pro models. The latter gets the extra Jewelry mode and can be fully submersed to a depth of 5 meters. The basic FINDX does not have a submersible control box. Only the coil is fully waterproof. There is a $40 difference in price between the two models at the time of writing. Is the extra mode and submersible control box needed? That is for you to decide but at least Nokta gives you options.

Both machines also come with wired headphones, a digging tool and a carry bag. No matter which machine you go for there is a lot of value for money here. However, do not buy a FINDX hoping to see the same performance as other Nokta models. These are most definitely in the “entry-level” category. They may look the part but you are not getting a Simplex or Legend on the cheap. As an entry into the hobby though, you really cannot do better.
