A Minelab X-TERRA PRO For $300?
Since Minelab’s announcement that the X-TERRA PRO is going to be launched at the IWA show next month, we have been speculating on where this new machine fits into the Minelab lineup and which machines from other manufacturers it will compete with. But the biggest factor in all of that is what price point the X-TERRA PRO lands at.
We have been reliably informed that previous estimates of around $700 are wide of the mark and the machine will retail for closer to $300. Which if true would pretty much render redundant all single-frequency machines from Nokta Makro, Garrett, Fisher, Bounty Hunter, Teknetics, Quest and C.Scope.
The Nokta Makro Simplex+ is a good machine but it only has a single frequency and if you want to use wireless headphones you need to purchase them from Nokta Makro. Likewise, the Quest Q30 which again is a fine machine, single frequency and uses proprietary wireless audio. The Garrett Ace 300i, 400i, AT Pro and AT Max will all be outclassed by the X-TERRA PRO as would all Fisher, Bounty Hunter and Teknetics machines.
As with many things these days, It all hinges on the price.

At that price, it would be very tempting.
Indeed. Even though I currently use the XP WS6 Master I think I might be tempted to pick up an X-TERRA PRO, IF it is around that price.
Definitely will be watching for updates maybe the vanqish will be dropped
I think the Vanquish can still sit alongside the X-TERRA PRO for now. They are aimed at slightly different markets. The Vanquish has all the benefits of Multi-IQ without any of the complexity. It is in many respects and ideal beach machine, apart from not being waterproof. The X-TERRA PRO will excel on inland sites where Multi-IQ doesn’t have any major advantage. If Minelab can keep the price of the X-TERRA PRO low, it will be a huge success.
I would buy one if it is waterproof.
The X-Terra Pro is fully waterproof to 5 meters Domenick.
Can thexterra pro be shipped overseas to the Philippines ?
Yes I would buy one especially for that price….
As far as I know, Russell, the X-TERRA PRO is being shipped worldwide. So I don’t think there will be any problems getting one in the Philippines.
Let’s just hope that the price is correct, or even close to correct. If it comes in under $400 it will sell well. Anything above that and I think it will start to struggle.
I am not sure if it is better than the Equinox 600. It is certainly different. From what we have seen it appears to work well on the beach and the price is right.
